The Town of Ignace says the Nuclear Waste Management Corporation provided just over $1.7 million to fund various purchases and projects in the community last year.

The money comes from a Multi-Funding agreement the town has with the NWMO.

The town has also approved and signed a similar agreement for 2024.

Ignace was able to purchase a fire truck for $779,000 and a rescue truck for $344,000.

The town also used the fund to buy some playground equipment and 3/4 ton plow truck with a sander for $61,000.

The arena was also the beneficiary of the funding including a new compressor, a gas stove and a pick-up truck.
