60’s Scoop Compensation On Its Way

Children of the 60’s Scoop are being compensated by the Canadian government.

The term refers to Indigenous children who were taken from their homes and put in non-Aboriginal foster homes.

The settlement indicates that many suffered emotionally, mentally and physically.

Part of the agreement includes a $50-million fund by the government that will provide reconciliation, and access to healing and education.

An additional $500-$750 million will be paid to qualified claimants from 1951 to 1991 for compensation.
