Despite a hot and dry weekend, fire personnel have a handle on wild fires in our region.
There were seven new fires reported Sunday, all in the Kenora, Thunder Bay, Nipigon and Fort Frances districts.
One also sparked about 135-kilometres north of Red Lake.
There are 78 active fires across the northwest, only 6 that are considered not under control.
The fire hazard is high to extreme.
