Two men fined for illegally hunting deer

Two men face $9,500 in fines for an illegal deer hunt in the Dryden area.

Court heard that in November of 2022, conservation officers were conducted a patrol in the Eton-Rugby area.

They contacted two men who were returning from deer hunting.

Their investigation found that one of the men had shot a deer and did not invalidate his tag.

The MNRF says both hunters made false and misleading statements throughout the investigation.

A John Paul Gagne was fined $8,000, prohibited from possession a hunting license in Ontario for five years and had his rifle permanently forfeited to the crown.

The Bryan Turpin from Dryden has pleaded guilty to making a false statement to a conservation officer and fined $1,500.
