Atlantic Canadians are more worried about paying for daily needs

Nearly 60 per cent of Canadians are worried about being able to afford everyday necessities compared to the start of this year, despite a slight decline in that percentage since the start of the year.

But Atlantic Canadians are the largest group with difficulty paying for their daily needs, representing 49 per cent of the people with difficulty, according to a new report from Narrative Research.

About four out of 10 Canadians say they’ve struggled in the last 12 months, but about 26 per cent say things have been easy for them.

However, the amount of overall people worried about paying for daily needs has declined since February.

This graphic shows the results of the recent report compared to the results from a report earlier this year in March.

Baby boomers were less concerned with any expenses, unlike younger people. And overall men were less worried than women about all the expenses except shelter.

Narrative Research and the Logit Group conducted the survey between Oct. 8 and 11, with results from 1,230 Canadians, aged 18 or older.
