UPDATE: Highway 502 reopens to one lane between Fort Frances and Dryden

Highway 502, between Fort Frances and Dryden, has partially reopened following a collision on Tuesday evening.

The Ministry of Transportation first posted about the collision near Big Sawbill Lake Road just before 10 p.m.

It was initially only the northbound lane that was shut down, but officials closed the highway in both directions around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

In an update just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, MTO said only the northbound lane was still closed for vehicle removal.

Meanwhile, two other highways in northwestern Ontario that were closed Tuesday evening due to road conditions have reopened.

Highway 17 between Dryden and Ignace reopened just before 2 a.m. Wednesday while Highway 11 between Beardmore and Nipigon reopened shortly before midnight Tuesday night.
