A Dog Gone Blast With The SIJHL Dryden Ice Dogs

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs of the SIJHL recently visited at the outdoor Eagle River Rink to enjoy some time with Eagle River volunteers and community members.

Eagle River volunteer Connie Calvert shares the following highlights and pictures from the evening……..

“On the evening of February 5, they let the SIJHL Dryden Ice Dogs out and they arrived in Eagle River! We are always so excited to welcome them to our community.
Activities included target shooting, free skating, shinny, an outdoor photo booth, bonfire, concession stand and overall, a fantastic time.
Machin public works employees Kyle Gibeault and Brandon Leach cleared and flooded the ice and assisted as Cliff Wise dug out the Ice Dogs wall jersey painted by Linda Carter.
We got a lot of snow this winter. Great work!
Mayor Gord welcomed ‘The Dogs’ to the community and shared a brief history of Machin and our outdoor rink. Thank you Mayor!
Once again, these events would not happen without the work, coordination and reliability of our dedicated volunteers. A huge thank you to each and every one of you for bringing this together. Each person is such a vital part of our night. So grateful!
Volunteers Cliff Wise, Mike Durocher, Karen Wise, Carmene Hampe, Connie Calvert, Lisa Durocher, Kathy Pippy-Evans, Remo Knecht, Shelley Davis, Bob Hampe and Jesse Perrin are in one of the group shots below.
Connie Korzinski & Carman Brignall did the cooking and ran the concession. They made and served chili dogs, hamburger soup, chili and Kathy Bartlett’s homemade buns along with goodies and drinks. Excellent food ladies!
Jesse Perrin organized and ran activities on the ice. Superb job Jesse!
Jesse gathered the Dogs to share the evening’s ice events.
Bob Hampe and Mike Durocher manned the fire (pictured with Dale and Kathy Bartlett). Well done guys!
Lisa Durocher built our photo booth. Pictured with Ben Hackl, Assistant Coach, SIJHL Dryden Ice Dogs. Outstanding job Lisa!
The Ice Dogs, local kids and adults enjoyed the fun.
Thank you Jake Gushue, Head Coach, for dealing with my many questions and bringing the team to us.
Thank you locals for bringing your children and joining us for our ‘Dogs Evening’. Very much appreciated.”
