Abitibi-Consolidated says it still hasn’t made any decision about the long-term future of the newsprint mill in Kenora.
The company has completed an in-depth review of four of its high cost mills, and has announced some operational changes.
The Fort William mill in Thunder Bay will be sold off and operations of two of Abitibi’s mills in Newfoundland will be consolidated.
Abitibi says discussions are continuing with the provincial government on the challenge of reducing energy costs at the newsprint mill in Kenora.
A decision on the local mill is expected within the next two months.
