Peaceful protests are planned for Aboriginal Day of Action in
Northwestern Ontario, with events and unity walks scheduled in Kenora and
Thunder Bay.
Grand Council Treaty #3 and Nishnawbe-Aski Nation both plan to raise
awareness and support among the public to push both governments for urgent
action to address first nation issues.
Things are different in southern ontario.
A small group of Mohawk protesters are blocking Highway 2, west
of Kingston, and that has triggered a closure of the 4-0-1 in the area.
C-N Rail has closed its main line through the region and there is
no Via Rail service between Toronto and Montreal and Toronto and
Ottawa.
