A Kenora man’s campaign to get cancer treatment in Winnipeg has come to the attention of MPP’s at Queen’s Park.
Wes Bland was recently refused a PET scan in Manitoba, and instead had to travel to Thunder Bay for the test.
Kenora-Rainy MPP Sarah Campbell asked the Health Minister to explain why he had to travel six hours for a PET scan.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Deb Matthews claims that it was a misunderstanding with the Manitoba Ministry of Health and the problem has now been cleared up.
She says everyone in the province has access to excellent care, and if someone lives in Northwestern Ontario, they will be able to access services in Manitoba.
