A hefty fine for a hunting accident in northwestern Ontario.
Two men from Indianapolis and another from Texas were bear hunting near Perreault Falls back in September.
The men had killed a bear and loaded it into their pick-up along with three loaded rifles.
One of the rifles fired, hitting the Texas man in the elbow and required medical attention.
Terry Long Junior from Indianapolis has been fined two thousand dollars for having a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle and is banned from hunting in Ontario for five years.
His father Terry Long Senior was fined 800 dollars.
The ministry reminds the public to ensure firearms are unloaded before being placed in a motor vehicle.
A conservation officer must be notified as soon as possible if an injury requiring treatment by a physician is caused by the discharge of a firearm while hunting or trapping.
