Ada Ruth Humenecky, age 77, passed away at the DRHC on Saturday, November 12, 2011 with her loving family by her side following a lengthy illness. She was predeceased by her father Paul Wilson and her two mothers, Dallas ( May ) Dubetz and Edna Maude Wilson.
Ruth is survived by her dog Dutchie, loving son Stephen (Evelyn De Piero), grandchildren Paul (Erin) Humenecky, Jennifer ( Brad ) Skabar, and six great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Lauren and Morgan Humenecky, and Ashtyn, Teagan, and Kaiden Skabar. She is also survived by her sisters; Sharon May Wilson, Marsha Bowen-Smith, Rochelle (Allan) Goddyn, Amber (Graham) Goddyn, and brothers Gregory and Ivan Dubetz.
Ruth was born in Dryden on August 28, 1934. She was married for 25 years during which time she raised her family. Much of her working career was spent at the Port Arthur General Hospital as an Operating Room Aide. After approximately 20 years she went on to become a successful Real Estate agent with Belluz Realty in Thunder Bay, until retiring due to poor health. She returned to Dryden, residing for 17 years at Thunder Lake, only recently moving into town.
Her priorities in life were family first, followed by her love for her dogs Naomi, Billie and Dutchie. She particularly enjoyed skiiorring in the bush trails at Thunder Lake. Bird watching, nature and her concern for the environment were especially important to her. She was also a member of the Dryden Go- Getters and in latter years enjoyed playing bridge a great deal .
A Visitation Service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held Wednesday, November 16th, 2011 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. in the Moffat Chapel of Stevens Funeral Homes with a Remembrance to be recited at 2:00 p.m.
