Aggravated assault charges laid in Wabaseemoong

A 53 year old woman faces a number of charges including aggravated assault in connection to a two year investigation.

The case has to do with injuries suffered a five year old child.

The OPP along with the Treaty #3 Police began investigating back in November of 2021 in the Wabaseemoong Independent Nations into a serious assault.

On Friday, charges including failing to provide the necessaries of life, abandoning a child and criminal negligence causing bodily harm were laid.

The suspect was an employee of Wabaseemoong Child and Family Services at the time.

She is due to appear in Kenora Court on November 23rd.
