Agent Orange Used in Northern Ontario

Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson is shocked to learn that the Ministry of Natural Resources knew Agent Orange had been used in the Kapuskasing and Hearst areas decades ago, without the knowledge of it’s residents. a Toronto Star Exclusive uncovered government documents detailing an aerial spraying program throughout the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Bisson is demanding full disclosure of documents relating to the Agent Orange Spray Program saying it’s the only way to know who needs to be tested, and who has already been affected by the chemicals. Minister of Natural Resources Linda Jefferies responded to the issues Thursday night by saying “This is a serious issue. Last week the Ministry of Natural Resources raised the issue with Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Arlene King. I have asked the ministry to continue to keep Dr. King apprised of any further developments on the file.”
