Ontario’s air ambulance service, ORNGE, is buying six bigger and faster planes to service Northwestern Ontario.
The new planes cost about $35-million and will be flying out of Sioux Lookout, Thunder Bay and Timmins.
President Dr. Chris Mazza says the new planes are needed because most of the current fleet is, on average, more than 20 years old.
The new planes will start flying in 2009 and 2010.
