An ‘air quality advisory’ is in effect for our area
Environment Canada says there’s smoke in the air – but it’s coming from fires very far away
Possible high levels of air pollution due to smoke are expected to continue through the weekend and possibly into Monday.
Smoke plumes from forest fires in Alberta and BC will continue to affect areas near the Manitoba border over Northwestern Ontario this weekend.
Air quality may deteriorate if the smoke descends to ground level.
The advisory includes Dryden, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Kenora, Fort Frances and extends through the Manitoba border into Winnipeg.
