Air quality alerts issued for several communities

Air quality alerts have been issued for several northwestern Ontario communities today.

It is because of smoke from forest fires.

Environment Canada says it is impacting several communities in the Far North, as well as Sioux Lookout, Ear Falls and Pickle Lake.

It says the smoke is leading to high levels of air pollution that can impact those with respiratory issues, children and pregnant people.

It adds the extent of air quality and visibility will vary from hour to hour.

Officials advise taking precautions, especially older adults with respiratory issues, children and pregnant people.
