It’s a heart warming story that caps off a successful drive to save Dryden’s Canada Day Fireworks. A group of workers employed by “Strike Energy Services” from Calgary are in the Dryden area working on a project with the Trans Canada Pipeline. On hearing that Dryden’s Canada Day Fireworks were in danger of being cancelled, they started a collection among their team and the local TCP workers. Today, they stopped in at CKDR with $880 in cash – and a check for another $500 from their head office in Calgary. By the time Canada Day arrives, these big-hearted individuals will be in Kapuskasing on another project. The Dryden Fireworks Fun was an attempt to raise ten thousand dollars – the total raised is now well over 12 thousand with some pledges still to come. Campaign organizers plan to give the entire amount raised to Dryden’s fire department to light up the sky on Canada Day.
