The fifth annual “Alzheimer’s Society Ride for Memories” was termed a ‘soggy success’ this past weekend.
Over 150 motorcyclists from Kenora, Fort Frances, Sioux Lookout and Dryden took part in the run this past Saturday. Riders from across the district met for lunch in Dryden, then passed through Atikokan en route to a wind-up in Fort Frances. While the riders encoutered light drizzle throuought the day, the trek from Atikokan to the Fort was hampered by heavy rain. None of the bikes dropped out, and all finished the run.
Kenora’s Dave Canfield was the top fund-raiser with over 18 hundred dollars in pledges. Barney B’s Motorsports from Kenora, CKDR Radio from Dryden and the OPP all supplied support vehicles.
The ride raised over 32 thousand dollars, with money still coming in this week.
