American Angler Fined

An American angler has been fined $500 for illegal fishing.
37-year-old Patrick Beil of Wisconsin has pleaded guilty for using smelt as bait and for having 3 extra fishing lines.
MNR officers on air patrol landed on Bell Lake north of Ignace in April.
Officers found Beil using 5 lines, 3 of which were baited with smelt, an exotic species not allowed in area lakes.
