Four residents of Minnesota have paid 65-hundred dollars to the Ministry of Natural Resources in connection with the costs of fighting a forest fire they were charged with causing last year.
The MNR says because of this negotiated settlement and payment of costs, charges against the four people have been stayed.
The payment went directly to the MNR Forest Fire Management Program.
An investigation determined a fire broke out last September on an island on Eltrut Lake between Atikokan and Fort Frances.
It started in a fire pit where a fire from the previous night had not been properly extinguished.
