The Association of Municipalities of Ontario is bestowing the virtues of a federal program that gives a portion of gasoline taxes back to cities and towns.
AMO says nearly half a million dollars was spent on about 40 infrastructure programs in the Rainy-River district over the past year.
Program manager Judy Dazell says that would not have happened without AMO’s intervention.
Road reconstruction and new sideways are just 2-projects that have benefited.
Dazell says an agreement between AMO and the federal government will see the program remain in place until 2014.
