The Dryden District Chamber of Commerce held its 12th Annual Business Excellence Awards Saturday evening. Some 200 Chamber members were in attendance as awards were handed out in eighteen categories.
The “Business of Honor” went to Walter’s Auto Body and Windshields with the Denzler family being recognized for their contribution to the community.
Business of the Year 1-25 Employees was awarded to Gould’s Countrywide Furniture and Appliances, while the Business of the Year with 26+ employees went to the Best Western Motor Inn.
Employee of the Year in the Retail Sector was awarded to Kim Gushulak from Dryden Florists and Gifts. Employee of the Year in the Service Sector was awarded to Scott Jonassen from Purolator and Employee of the Year in the Hospitality Sector went to Vanessa Normam from Ristorante Pizzeria Italia.
Owner/Manger of the Year 1-25 Employees went to Bruce Walchuk from CKDR while Dryden GM’s Nick Beyak won for Owner/Manager of the Year 26+ Employees.
Business Volunteer of the Year went to Len and Nancy Davis of Davis’ Bony Bay Camp. Outstanding New Business was won by Darrel Adams from Domino Pizza. Business Training Excellence was awarded to Ron Ursel from IGA Garden Market.
In Business Improvement, the winner was Canada Safeway, represented by Jodi Pizzi. The Home Based Business was won by Jeanie Cutts Interior Design. Business Supporting Tourism went to John Butts Outdoors, Business Supporting Health Care to Holly Hanson of Casually Hip/Way North.
The Woman in Business Award went to Tammy Reid from the Bulk Zone and the Mayor’s Award was presented to Bert’s Auto Wrecking in recognition of years of ‘quiet contribution’ to the community and the area.
