Andy Williams

In loving memory of Andrew Robert Williams (Andy) who passed away peacefully at Princess Court on February 19, 2008, at the age of 76 years. Andy was born in Osaguan, Ontario on March 15, 1931 to parents Eleanor and Allan “Slim” Williams. He attended school in Dryden. Andy was employed at Dryden Paper & Pulp Mill for 43 years of injury free service. He retired in November 1993. Lived in Oxdrift for a few years, he hobby farmed there, then moved to Dryden when his sons began high school and until his death. He loved to travel, and did so until his health failed. His whole life was his family; he enjoyed family gatherings, with his sons, their wives and grandchildren. He lived to hear about their accomplishments and activities. He was a very gentle “easy going” person, who never let his emotions get out of control. His happiest times were when the grandchildren visited. He enjoyed travelling before his health deteriorated. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed fishing and baseball especially games played by his sons. We rarely missed a game! He was a faithful Toronto Maple Leaf fan. Andy attended Grace Haven Day care for a short time, until he moved to Princess Court Long Term Care Home in July 2006, where he remained until his demise. He was a very sociable person with lots of friends and acquaintances. He enjoyed other residents and staff at Princess Court. Andy was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Andy is survived by his wife Lorene and sons Brian (Eileen) and Scott (Quincy), grandchildren Michelle, Kevin, Landyn & Dylan and brother Don (Marie). Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Andy was predeceased by his parents Eleanor & Allan “Slim” Williams, stepfather Arthur Morton, sister Eleanor Alcock & husband Gordon, brother Allan (wife Mary survives), brother Wilfred. A Memorial Service was held on Friday February 22, 2008 at Dryden Community Funeral Home with Rev. Pat Cleghorn officiating. Interment at a later date. Honorary pall bears were Charles Wintle, Carl Selman, Ed Hatch, David Neill, Victor Johnson and James Alcock. If friends so desire, donations maybe made to DRHC CT Scan, Alzheimer Society or a Charity of choice through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3
