Ann Hawes (Harrison)

The family of Ann Hawes (Harrison) announces her passing on January 26, 2007 at the Lake of the Woods Hospital in Kenora after a short residency at the Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home in Kenora. Born in Pine River, Manitoba May 27, 1914 to Harry and Doris Harrison, Ann married Harry Hawes December 3, 1930 and moved shortly thereafter to Kenora where they raised their family. Ann was a professional cook and spent many years employed at Temple Bay Lodge and Peck’s Evergreen Lodge in Eagle River. Upon her retirement she moved to Dryden where she remained devoted to her faith as a Jehovah’s Witness. Ann was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1960, an infant daughter, sons: Jack, Bill and David Hawes, sisters: Jenny Smith and Olga Bower, brothers: Heller, Johnny and Andrew Harrison, grandsons: John Hawes and Herbie Kennedy and great-grandson Shelby Hahn. She is survived by her sister Elsie Eunson of Vancouver, daughters: Dorothy (Bazil) Kennedy of Kenora and Helen Bratland of Vermilion Bay and son James (Pauline) Hawes of Winnipeg, as well as daughter-in-law Gracia Hawes. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 2 geat-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Following cremation a Memorial Funeral Service was held Wednesday, January 31st at 2:00 p.m. in the Stevens Funeral Homes “Moffat Chapel” with Mr. David Bower of the Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating. Interment of ashes will take place in Kenora at a later date.
