Another busy week at area High Schools

Still lots going on before schools begin Christmas break!

Dryden High School

Four Directions Winter Feast will be happening this Thursday (December the 11th) from 5pm to 7pm in the high school cafeteria.  Four Directions families are invited to celebrate the holiday season.  Enjoy a warm meal, activities, door prizes and more.

The Interact Club of DHS will be hosting a Gingerbread House Decorating Contest on Thursday, December 18th in the cafeteria at lunch! Come on out and show your creativity and school spirit!  Sign up on the sheet in the office with a group or solo by December 12th.  All supplies will be provided. First, second and third place will win a Subway gift card!

Also of note: Last week during the home opener for the Dryden Eagles boys and girl hockey teams a food drive for the Food Bank was held.  327 lbs of food and $301.60 in cash was collected.

Sioux North High School

Coming up on Wednesday, December 10th the movie Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer will be showing in the cafetorium during lunch.  And on Thursday, December 11th two movies will be shown during lunch:  Frosty The Snowman and A Spongebob Christmas.

It’s a busy week for the Warriors sports teams.  Today (Monday, December 8th) Sioux North boys and girls hockey teams will host the Thomas Aquinas Saints.  On Tuesday, December 9th the Warriors host the Fort Frances Muskies in court sports action – basketball and volleyball.  Good luck Warriors!  On Thursday, December 11th the Warriors court sports teams travel to Fort Frances for competition and on Friday, December 12th the Warrior Senior Girls Volleyball team will play in a tournament in Thunder Bay.  The girls Warrior hockey team will travel for tournament action in Kenora.

Also of note this week for Sioux North students – the Christmas Dance will be held in the café from 7 to 9pm on Thursday, December 11th.

Red Lake District High School

First off a big congrats to the Red Lake Rams Senior Boys basketball team as they were crowned Champions of the 2025 Dryden Invitational Senior Boys Basketball Tournament this past weekend!  Well done guys!!

The ‘Great Holiday Hunt’ starts today (Monday, December 8th)  and the Period 1 ‘Door Decorating’ Colouring & Drawing Contest also begins.

Coming up on Thursday, December 11th there will be a cookie decorating activity happening at lunch in the cafeteria.  Sign up for the event in the office.

And on Friday, December 12th there will be Festive Pickleball happening at lunch in the gym.  Sign-up in the office ahead of time.

Pelican Falls First Nations High School

Winter court sports action this week for the Timberwolves has Pelican Falls hosting the Red Lake Rams on Tuesday, December 9th.

The next PD day for Pelican Falls students will be on December 19th.  Christmas holidays begin on December 22nd.

Ignace School

The Falcons court sports teams will be hosting the Red Lake Rams today (Monday, December 8th).  The Falcons and Rams will go head to head again later in the month in Red Lake on Tuesday, December 16th.

Also of note for Falcon students of Ignace School: next Monday, December 15th will be Winter Hat Day, Holiday Sweater Day is on the 16th and Pajama Day is on the 17th and so is the Family Dance from 6 to 7:30.
