Another Call Made for Spring Bear Hunt

Bear encounters in Northern Ontario so far this year have more than
doubled compared with the same period last year.
Ignace area Outfitter Clifford Long says the spring bear hunt, which
was cancelled in 1999, helped to reduce the number of nuisance bears.
Long is calling on Minister of Natural Resources David Ramsay to visit
the region to discuss the nuisance bear problem and safety concerns.
As of last week, there were 7,900 nuisance bear calls received province-wide.
