Aspiring young anglers tested the waters this weekend at Bob Izumi’s Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire Fishing Derby.
Dryden’s Government Dock was packed on Saturday with kids and families.
Dryden Police Community Services Officer Denise Szachury says it was a great and successful day of fishing.
There were over 100 participants this year and the event continues to grow.
Szachury says the goal is to get kids out and active with their families and away from the TV or computer screen.
All participants walked away as a winner, with prizes, food and a smile.
Szachury says the next event is the Seniors and Cops Fishing Derby on August 10th.
She notes the event is open to residents of Patricia Gardens and 10 Victoria.
There will be a fish fry to follow and Szachury is hoping to make it an Annual Summer event.
