A 49-year-old Longbow Lake man has been fined $3,000 for
careless hunting after the apprentice hunter he was mentoring violated the
rules.
Last November, Matthew Walkiewicz and a 14-year-old were driving along
Highway 71 near Rushing River when they saw an antlered deer.
The apprentice hunter got out of the vehicle and shot the deer as it
was headed into the park and then got back into the truck without unloading
the rifle.
Both actions are against hunting regulations.
Walkiewicz has been banned from hunting for a year.
