Lobbying efforts to keep the Atikokan Generating Station are still alive
even though Energy Minister Dwight Duncan seems unwilling to change his
mind.
In an interview with Canadian Press, he refered to people wanting to
keep coal fired plants alive as “Neanderthals” who are a century behind
the times.
1 of those would be the Mayor of Atikokan Dennis Brown who is
undaunted by the Minister’s comments…

A Government commisioned report due in December is expected to call
for the plants to remain open but Duncan is already saying that doesn’t
matter to him at all.
