Atikokan Continues to Eye Alternate Fuel

Atikokan Mayor Dennis Brown says plans continue at a steady pace to
convert the Coal-Fired plant to burn alternative fuel.
The Town is studying the use of burning peat, biomass, wood waste or
even garbage in order to keep the station running.
Brown says his main concern is keeping the station open to ensure jobs
stay in the community.
Two meetings with the technical experts are planned in Atikokan and
Toronto in October and November.
The McGuinty Liberals have committed $4-million to construct a Bioenergy Research Station linked to the Atikokan Generating Plant.
