Ontario Power Generation is back in the business of producing power at its generating station in Atikokan.
A ceremony for the re-opening of the now-converted plant to burn biomass was held on Wednesday.
President Tom Mitchell says its a huge deal for OPG, northwestern Ontario and the entire province.
Mitchell says the plant has attracted a lot of attention and he sees it being a model for similar plants elsewhere.
Conversion of the 200-megawatt plant was competed earlier this year.
Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli sees it helping the economy with the wood pellets used coming only from Ontario.
Chiarelli says the plant also helps the province towards its goal of having 50% of its generating capacity coming from clean energy sources by 2025.
