The Little Falls Recreation Centre is now in the hands of the Township of Atikokan.
Town Manager Warren Paulson says the board of directors did not have the financial resources to continue, with an estimated deficit of 34-thousand dollars.
Paulson says the shortfall comes after a summer of bad weather and severe flooding.
The town is working on short term agreements with staff in time for curling season.
Paulson says the long term question is whether council should contract out jobs or hire full time employees.
He stresses the board has been doing a great job the last ten years, investing 200-thousand dollars into capital equipment and not running a deficit.
