Atikokan Urging Residents to Lobby Government

The Town of Atikokan is once again lobbying the Provincial Government
to not close down its coal-fired plant.
Council met Wednesday to discuss the new closure date of 2014 and
noted the public has until August 11th to voice their opposition.
Mayor Dennis Brown says he’s not going to accept a Toronto-based
decision.
Brown says 43% of pollution in Ontario comes from the States and
notes the coal stations in Atikokan and Thunder Bay combine for less then
1%.
