ATV’s Now Allowed On Certain Streets And Roads

The City of Dryden is allowing the use of All-Terrain vehicles on certain streets and roads.
A motion to revamp the current by-law was approved after considerable debate on Monday.
The current by-law hasn’t been updated since 1998.
The issue was debated at great length and Mayor Craig Nuttall voiced his support.
Nuttall says the changes will allow someone to take their ATV fishing or down to the lake.
He notes it will also help those who use their vehicle for snow plowing efforts.
Nuttall stresses this isn’t Toronto and you can’t restrict people from using these type of vehicles.
Martin MacKinnon voiced similar support as well.
Sid Wintle noted that ATV’s are safer than scooters.
Ken Moss and Shayne MacKinnon both agreed that the issue should be looked into further.
Moss says he doesn’t really see the purpose of them.
MacKinnon says he wants to see more eco-friendly alternatives.
The new by-law sets out certain restrictions including an 11 o’clock curfew and a 20-kilometre speed limit within city limits.
Council plans to revisit the changes when it takes another look at current snowmobile restrictions.
