Families will get together this weekend for Thanksgiving dinner but the Northwestern Health Unit is asking you to keep those gatherings small.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon urges people to stay within their household social bubble.
All non-essential travel outside northern Ontario is also not recommended.
Dr. Kit Young Hoon says “Do not host guests who are feeling unwell or who should be self isolating. Instead you can consider sending a meal home for them. Think also about making food service more COVID safe. For example you can designate one person to prepare plates instead of passing around bowls and platters with common utensils.”
She adds if you are meeting others you should do so outside while maintaining the two metre barrier.
Dr. Kit Young Hoon recommends virtual dinners and stresses don’t host anyone if you or someone in your household is felling unwell or self isolating.
The recommendations come as Ontario is reportedly set to announce Friday an excess of a record 900 new cases of COVID-19.
