A familiar face is back at the helm of the Kenora District Services Board.
Barry Baltessen was re-elected Thursday as Chair of the Board.
Baltessen says he’s pleased with the vote of confidence, noting the Board is poised to make a number of positive changes across the District.
He says he’s hoping for progress this year on the long standing issue of non-emergency land ambulance patient transfers.
Baltessen notes they also plan to work with the province on securing funding to address poverty and housing shortages.
He believes there’s funding at both levels of government for subsidized housing for seniors and low income individuals.
The KDSB has also approved an active travel schedule for Baltessen, with a number of dates with provincial and municipal leaders.
Baltessen says it’s important to be front and centre with politicians and notes presenting a common vision with area Mayors will go a long way for the region.
