A 25-year-old Thunder Bay woman escaped serious injury after being
attacked by a black bear north of Upsala on the weekend.
OPP say the victim was walking on Peter Finger Road when she observed
the bear in the distance.
Police say the bruin charged her, knocked her to the ground and began
to attack her as she lied on her back.
The bear then bit the victim’s foot, partially removing her work
boot, and left the area.
The Ministry of Natural Resources was contacted and there is no word
on the status of the bear.
