The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is informing residents that they are currently conducting barbed wire hair trap surveys for bears.
The survey stations have sardines and some barbed wire nearby to collect hair samples of nearby bears to collect data on their population.
Regional Outreach Specialist Rick Hagdu says the collection stations are humane and shouldn’t harm the bears.
Hagdu also says if you spot a survey station, you are advised to get away from it and look out for bears.
