Bears forage in Fort Frances neighbourhood

There were a few anxious moments in an east end Fort Frances neighbourhood last night after a bear and two cubs wandered into town.

Bylaw enforcement officers were notified and the bears were tranquilized in the 800 block of Nelson Street.

Bylaw officer Dave Egan says the process went smoothly and the animals have been returned to the bush.

Egan adds mid-June seems very early for bears to be wandering near communities – normally bears don’t start searching for food until late summer.
