Bed Bath & Beyond files for bankruptcy in U.S.

Bed Bath and Beyond has filed for bankruptcy protection in the United States after years of financial losses and liabilities estimated to be up to $10 billion.

The home goods chain made the filing on Sunday, saying they will seek a buyer for some or all of its businesses and they anticipate closing all of its stores by June 30.

The company says its 360 physical locations and website will remain open in the mean time. Many Canadian stores have already closed.

The chain was founded in 1971.
