Bell Aliant wants to bring broadband internet to 27 remote First Nation communities across Northwestern Ontario.
The company plans to build a 2,300 kilometre fibre optic cable network.
The proposed network would serve over 6,000 homes.
12 First Nations would be able to change over from satellite and microwave radio systems to fibre-optic services.
The project is expected to cost $85-million.
Bell would provide $21-million of that amount and hopes the Federal and Provincial Governments will provide the rest.
