Bending Lake Iron Group is trying to solicit local support to move forward with an iron ore mine southeast of Ignace.
CEO Henry Wetalainen presented his case to Dryden Council Tuesday night and says the project is moving forward.
Wetalainen says a project plan will be submitted to the Federal Government and the terms of reference will be delivered to the Province by January.
He notes they need local Council’s to support the environmental process and to support mining in the area.
Councilor Mike Wood stressed at the meeting that he want’s to ensure that Wetalainen has all his ducks in a row.
Wetalainen left hoping that Dryden is on board with the project.
The company hopes to start construction in 2-years and is anticipating 700-jobs during construction and 300-jobs when operating.
