Best Start Program Up in the Air

The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board stresses it will not move
forward with planned renovations at schools to accommodate additional
child-care spaces.
The Prime Minister has indicated the Best Start program will not be
funded.
Director of Education Janet Wilkenson says they don’t want vacant
spaces and notes a long term plan is needed.
Wilkenson says the move is disappointing given all the work that has
been done locally.
She says having early childhood care is critical and she hopes
both levels of Government can reach an agreement.
