It is with great sadness that the Notte family announce the passing of Biase Anthony Notte, age 77, of Dryden on Thursday October 31, 2002 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre. Biase left Italy in 1952 and after a brief stay in Montreal came to Ignace, ON where he was employed by Canadian Pacific Railways. He was then transferred to Molson, Manitoba. In August of 1953 Biase was joined by his wife Anna, son Michael and daughter Lisa (Shaw). These were very happy times for the whole family in a new land and new dreams. In 1956 his youngest daughter Lucy (Schlecht) was born. He transferred to Wabigoon with his family, building his new home in Dryden. Biase was employed by Dryden Paper Co. in the Woodlands for 13 years. Then he built his first Little Supermarket and opened it in the fall of 1971. Since then he expanded the Store into Notte’s Supermarket Ltd. He built what is today the Patricia Inn which he maintained and owned to this day. Biase Notte is survived by his loving wife Anna, son Michael (Terry)Notte, daughters Lisa (John)Shaw and Lucy (Howard)Schlecht. Five grandchildren Lisa (Mark) Schmidt, Chris (Noella) Notte, Michael Notte Jr., Jodee (Scott) Budgell of Welland, ON and Jana Shaw (Derek Jansen). Six great grandchildren Brendan, Cameron, Michaela, Emma, Adam and Liam. Brother Cosmo of Italy. Biase was predeceased by his sister Felicia. Visitation for the late Biase Notte was held on Sunday November 3, 2002 from 2-8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Luigi Taddeo, Roland D’Angelo, Chris Notte, Mike Notte Jr., Mark Schmidt and Ron Boomhower. Funeral Services for the late Biase Notte were held on Monday November 4, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Luigi Filippini officiating. Interment to follow in the Dryden Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Dryden Regional Health Centre East Unit Equipment Fund through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
