In only his third game in the SIJHL, Keilan Toews put together a performance that he will never forget.
Toews scored his first goal on a short-side snap shot 2:36 into overtime to give the Red Lake Miners a 6-5 win over Dryden GM at the Memorial Arena Friday night.
The 19-year-old from Langley, B.C. also set up four others in regulation.
Ethan Stuckless scored his first two SIJHL goals, while Kyle Uzelman, Spencer Milne and Stratton Pickett added singles.
The game saw a number of twists and turns as the Ice Dogs had three, one goal leads.
However, things changed win the second when the Miners stormed ahead with four goals, before Dryden GM responded with two of their own in the final period.
Braden Shea led the way for the Ice Dogs with the hat-trick, while Eric Stout and Evan Walls also found the back of the net.
Dryden GM outshot the Miners 50-26, with Zach Willms picking up his second straight win, and Jordan Wilde suffering the loss.
The Ice Dogs allowed two more 5-3 powerplay goals as well as a shorthanded marker.
Dryden GM is off Saturday and will play Thief River Falls Sunday afternoon at 3:30 at the Memorial Arena.
The Miners and Norskies meet tomorrow in Cochenour at 7:30.
