Big Weekend For English River Miners

The English River Miners are still celebrating a successful home opening weekend.

The Miners took both of their games against the Thunder Bay North Stars in Red Lake.

On Saturday, Michael Lenko stood on his head and made 47-saves in a 5-1 victory.

It was a balanced offensive attack as the Miners received goals from Jamie Driedger, Sidney Gladue, Ryder Prue, Braeden Pearce and Morgan Scriber.

Trevor Pereverzoff added three assists.

English River kept the momentum going Sunday afternoon in a 5-2 win over Thunder Bay.

Sidney Gladue led the effort with 2-goals and 2-assists.

Austin Kuhn added a pair of goals, while Jamie Driedger also found the back of the net.

Spencer Eschyschyn stopped 32-shots for the victory.

With the four point weekend, English River moves to third place in the SIJHL with a 3-2 record.

The Miners are two points behind the second place Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
