The English River Miners are in the win column early in the SIJHL season.
The Miners handed the defending champion Fort Frances Lakers their second straight loss with a convincing 5-2 win Tuesday night at the Ice for Kids Arena.
English River scored four times on the powerplay.
Trevor Pereveroff led the attack with a pair of goals, while Alex McPhee, Sidney Gladue and Morgan Scriber added singles.
Michael Lenko stopped 33-shots for his first SIJHL win.
Wednesday night, the Minnesota Iron Rangers travel to Thunder Bay to face the North Stars.
