Randy Hillier says the future of Northern Ontario is worth 45-minutes to Dalton McGuinty.
The Conservative Critic for Northern Development is condemning the Government for quick debate on amendments to Bill 151, the Forest Tenure Reform Act.
Randy Hillier says a number of PC and NDP amendments were quickly shot down on Wednesday.
Hillier notes one amendment turned down was that the Government couldn’t take away a forest licence without the owner’s consent.
He stresses the Government still has broad powers to take away any mills wood allocation at any time.
Hillier says the forestry industry is about to take the shape of current Local Health Integration Networks, where a third party controls everything, and the Minister holds no responsibility.
He adds if Northerners want to have a voice with this Government, they had better join Greenpeace or the World Wildlife Fund.
The Forest Tenure Bill is now up for third and final reading, something that could come at any time according to Hillier.
