Being forced to wear high heels in the workplace may soon be a thing of the past in Ontario.
MPP Christina Martins has presented her Private Members Bill in Queen’s Park, aimed at banning employers from forcing high heeled shoes on their workers.
Speaking to Acadia News, Martins says they aren’t saying that women can’t wear high heels but they want ladies to be comfortable, healthy and safe at the workplace.
Martins admits that in some cases the law could be flouted, but hopes employers see the importance of their staff being safe at work.
She is confident her bill has the support of the legislature.
